Mariners activate SS J.P. Crawford (pinky) from IL

Crawford from the 10-day injured list prior to Wednesday's afternoon game against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays.
Crawford will play shortstop and bat in the leadoff spot against the Rays.
Crawford missed five weeks with a fractured right pinky. He was injured when struck by a pitch from Tyler Anderson of the Los Angeles Angels on July 22. He went on the IL the following day.
Crawford, 29, is batting just .204 with nine homers and 32 RBIs through 77 games this season. It is a decline from last season, when he established career highs of 19 homers and 65 RBIs while batting .266.
The Mariners opened a roster spot by optioning outfielder Dominic Canzone to Triple-A Tacoma following Tuesday's game.
Canzone, 27, is batting .196 with eight homers and 17 RBIs in 67 games.
